A Tax Firm Just Bought a Leadership Development Company. It Was Their 13th Deal to Close This Year.

Andersen Group closed its purchase of Zenger Folkman on October 15 — paid in stock, folded into a platform that also sells tax, legal and cybersecurity.

The buyer side of the corporate leadership market is consolidating, and it is not being consolidated by coaches.

On October 15, Andersen Group Inc. (NYSE: ANDG) announced it had closed four consulting acquisitions — SPR, BD Emerson, Daniels Consulting Group and Zenger Folkman. The deals add capabilities in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and human capital consulting.

That last category is the one that matters if you sell leadership development into enterprises.

Zenger Folkman is a widely recognized leadership development consultancy specializing in research-based leadership assessment, executive coaching and organizational performance improvement. It is now owned by a company best known for tax.

The price was shares, not cash

Andersen didn't disclose deal terms publicly. The SEC filing is more specific.

On August 7, 2026, Andersen entered a purchase agreement to buy all of the equity interests of Zenger Folkman Holdings, LLC for Class A Common Stock, issuing 60,938 shares as consideration. The deal closed October 15.

No cash component disclosed. Stock only — which means the sellers are now shareholders in a listed professional services roll-up, with whatever that implies about how long they stay and how hard they sell.

For context on the scale of the buying spree: the stock consideration across seven of these acquisitions represented roughly 6.4% of Andersen's Class A Common Stock outstanding.

Thirteen down, six to go

Andersen has now signed 19 acquisition agreements in 2026 representing approximately $190 million in annualized revenue, of which 13 have closed.

And it isn't finished. Andersen Consulting now has more than 37,000 professionals globally, and the company said it was evaluating more than 27 consulting firms at various stages of discussion and integration.

Chairman and CEO Mark L. Vorsatz, on what the firm thinks it's assembling: "These acquisitions represent exactly what we are building at Andersen—an integrated global platform of highly specialized, market-leading professional services firms... We are not simply acquiring revenue; we are bringing together outstanding professionals."

Read that sentence again as a leadership coach. "Integrated platform" is the sales argument that competes directly with you.

The founder died ten weeks before the deal was signed

There is a human story underneath the filing.

Zenger Folkman was founded in 2003 by Dr. Jack Zenger and Dr. Joseph Folkman. The firm built a vast database of 360-degree feedback assessments to understand what makes leaders extraordinary. That research became a steady presence in Harvard Business Review and a generation of leadership curriculum.

Jack Zenger died on July 3, 2026, at the age of 94, from complications of a rare autoimmune disorder. His family said he never retired, and in his final days was still mapping out the next ten years of his business and talking about artificial intelligence.

The purchase agreement was signed on August 7 — about five weeks later.

Why this lands on independent coaches

Two of the four firms Andersen closed on the same day touch leadership work. Daniels Consulting Group specializes in organizational transformation, change management, leadership development and strategy execution.

So a single buyer added two leadership development practices in one announcement, and attached them to a firm already inside corporate finance departments doing tax, legal and valuation work.

That is the structural shift. Andersen framed the transactions as adding established client relationships and recurring revenue streams, and Vorsatz has described the strategy as building one of the world's leading integrated professional services organizations.

If you are a solo executive coach pitching a Fortune 1000 L&D budget next spring, the competitive set has changed. You are no longer only up against other coaches. You are up against a vendor the CFO already pays, already has a master services agreement with, and can add a leadership line item to without a new procurement cycle.

That vendor has six more deals signed and waiting to close.

Editor’s note: Ran it because the consolidation of corporate leadership vendors directly reshapes who independent coaches compete with inside procurement — and the SEC filing gave us the number nobody else published.
