The Coaching Times

The daily read for coaches, consultants and speakers building a business on what they know.

Tony Robbins Owns 121 Businesses. The Man Now Running Them Used to Run Oprah's Network.

Robbins didn't hire a seminar operator to run his empire. He hired a television executive — and that tells you where the business is going.

Here is the number that should stop any coach mid-scroll: 121.

That is how many businesses Tony Robbins is an owner in, all sitting under one corporate roof called Robbins Research International. RRI is the corporate entity that houses those 121 businesses, and since February it has had a new chief executive.

He is not a seminar guy. He is a television guy.

Robbins appointed Erik Logan as CEO of Robbins Research International and Chief Advisor to Tony Robbins on February 11, with Logan leading day-to-day operations and long-term strategy for RRI while contributing strategic leadership across the broader ecosystem of 121 businesses Robbins owns a stake in. His tenure began immediately.

The résumé is the message

Logan ran Oprah's television company. The former president of Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network joined as chief executive officer and lead advisor, handling day-to-day operations and long-term direction of Robbins' flagship education company and its ancillary businesses.

After that he ran professional surfing. Logan most recently served as CEO of the World Surf League, where he helped expand its global media footprint through content, and before WSL, Harpo and OWN, he was an EVP at XM Satellite Radio handling content and broadcast operations. More recently he was managing partner for a portfolio of businesses on behalf of Scott Borchetta.

Radio. Daytime TV. A global sports league. A music mogul's holdings. Notice what's missing: a single day spent selling a mastermind.

Robbins was explicit about why. He said that with Logan stepping into the role, "we gain a sharper ability to identify opportunities, connect the ecosystem more effectively, and unlock greater value across everything we are building including our partnership with Paramount+ and the Tony Robbins Network," citing Logan's experience working alongside Oprah Winfrey as president of Harpo Productions and OWN during its growth years.

That sentence is the strategy. The man who defined the arena seminar is now hiring for distribution.

The firewalk became a channel

The Paramount piece is already live. Pluto TV launched TRN Tony Robbins Network on its free ad-supported streaming platform on September 23, 2025, giving round-the-clock access to seminars, motivational content and business material. Robbins had kept his materials and teachings largely under wraps except for clients willing to pay thousands to attend in person.

Read that twice if you sell access.

The most valuable seminar library in personal development — more than 45 years of content — was moved from scarcity to free, ad-supported, always-on. The events didn't stop. The library just became a second business with different economics, and it needs someone who thinks in programming schedules rather than room fills.

Which is exactly the hire he made.

Sage Robbins said Logan's "experience and perspective position him uniquely for where the company is headed," calling the step "thoughtful, intentional, and entirely in service of our mission."

Meanwhile, this week

The publishing arm kept moving. Robbins and Christopher Zook — founder, chairman and chief investment officer of CAZ Investments — announced the paperback release of The Holy Grail of Investing on September 22, 2026, at $20.00 from Simon & Schuster. The edition adds an all-new chapter on Space & Defense, and the publisher notes it is the book's first paperback, featuring a new chapter on AI.

A hardcover bestseller re-cut two years later, updated for the themes people are actually searching now, priced at twenty dollars instead of thirty. That is not an author move. That is a catalogue move — the same instinct as the FAST channel, applied to a book.

What coaches should take from it

Every coach who models Robbins studies the stagecraft. The wrong thing to copy.

The thing worth copying is structural: he stopped treating his archive as promotional material and started treating it as inventory, then hired someone whose entire career has been packaging inventory for screens other people already own.

One caution before anyone rushes to build a channel. Logan's last big run ended strangely. His nearly five-year tenure as CEO of the World Surf League was cut short on a June day in 2023 with no reason given, and he had pushed dramatic format changes, including the mid-year cut and Final Five, that were widely disliked.

Media operators take swings. Some of them miss loudly. Robbins just bet 121 businesses on one anyway.

Editor’s note: The biggest name in coaching handed his empire to a television executive. That's a signal about where expert businesses are heading, not a personnel note.
