Three Coaching Platforms Closed in Eight Months. Some Coaches Went Looking for the Export Button and Found There Wasn't One.
Nudge Coach, Practice.do and Profi all went dark between April and December 2025. Here's the 10-minute audit every coach should run this week.

For a lot of coaches, the end of Practice.do arrived as a password that stopped working.
The platform gave its broader customer base short notice, and the final day when the login simply no longer worked was not announced in advance, according to CoachAccountable, a competitor that watched the collapse from the inside of the category. Practice.do shut down permanently on November 3, 2025. Coaches got a few weeks' notice, then client portals, scheduling links and contracts were gone.
There was no acquisition, no pivot, no read-only mode.
Three in eight months
It wasn't an isolated failure. Nudge Coach shut down on 30 April 2025. Practice.do went offline on 3 November 2025 with roughly two weeks of notice and no read-only mode. Profi ended access on 31 December 2025. Coaches lost session notes they had not exported.
All three were respectable choices when coaches signed up. Practice.do raised $10 million and built a loyal base among solo coaches and small coaching businesses. In October 2025, CEO Julien Smith told users the company "was not where we needed it to be to sustain itself" and that after a failed acquisition process the team had decided to put the company to rest. Profi's ending was quieter: it said it was winding down the current version of the platform as part of an acquisition, with full access through December 31, 2025.
The part that should scare you
Nudge handled its exit cleanly. The founders gave coaches a working export path and an advance warning, and the download window stayed open until mid-May 2025.
Profi did not. When CoachAccountable went looking for a way to rescue Profi customers' records, it reported finding no export functionality, no API to scrape programmatically, and no parting data dump. For Practice.do, by contrast, the same company had an automated importer running one day after the doors were bolted — because there were export files to import.
That's the real lesson. Your client history is only as portable as the button that exists today.
The 10-minute audit
Open your main platform and answer five questions. Time yourself.
1. Can you download your client list right now? Not "can you see it." Can you get a CSV onto your own hard drive in under two minutes?
2. Can you get your session notes out? This is the one that burns people. Profi's users lost session notes they had not pulled out.
3. Where does your payment relationship actually live? If you run on Stripe, transaction records sit in your own Stripe dashboard, independent of whatever front-end collected them. That's a relationship you keep.
4. Does your calendar history exist outside the platform? Google Calendar or iCal integrations hold your appointment history separately — those records belong to you, not the vendor.
5. Where is your program content? Worksheets, curricula, intake questions. If the only copy is inside a client portal, you don't own it. You're renting it.
The quarterly habit is boring and takes fifteen minutes: export, save to your own disk, repeat. Coaches who did that in October 2025 moved house. Coaches who didn't spent November going through old invoices and calendar invites, rebuilding a client list from receipts.
Check how you'd move out before the company has a reason to make it hard.
